New Trustee!

We have been very fortunate to recruit Annemarie Shillito as a Trustee to help us progress with fundraising and planning for sustainability – necessary both now and for the future. Rather than me summarising her background, this is what she wrote about herself:

“Annemarie is a development consultant and practitioner, supporting organisations to become more sustainable by helping them find a route to new income, facilitating their planning and development and enabling them to forge new productive partnerships.

In her early career she spent a year teaching, then as a children’s librarian and – via this route – setting up a young people’s newspaper in partnership with the North Devon Journal. She moved into development work with newspapers, winning a Chairman’s award from Northcliffe Group and moving from the Journal to the Leicester Mercury.

Following this her career was with Experian, in communications and corporate relations (Head of Corporate Communciations) and finally as Director of Inclusive Business, developing an in-company social investment fund which she grew and managed.

While at Experian she was Chair of Trustees for Nottingham Playhouse and was recognised by Arts and Business for her work in cross-sector partnerships.

Her key skills include forming successful cross sector partnerships, innovation, project startups and project management, communications, fundraising, branding and identity. When not working she supports a local project to revive a village pub, walks, cycles, swims in the sea and bakes! She is a Trustee of North Devon Sunrise, a diversity charity and on the steering group for Torrington 100.

Annemarie will clearly be a great asset to Freshspring and we look forward to moving forward with her help.
