We participated in the Appledore Book Festival which ran from 15th-24th September. We took our virtual reality along to the family fun day so that visitors could experience a virtual tour of the SS Freshspring which proved to be very popular. We also took along our morse code machine to teach people how to send messages whilst our younger volunteers demonstrated knot tying and making paracord bracelets.
Also at the festival, the ship’s carpenters were hard at work laying down the first planks of what will become the Freshspring’s new tender. Built along the lines of a typical 19th Century ship’s boat the new craft will be constructed using a mixture of traditional and modern techniques.
