Thanks to everyone who turned out for the ‘Futures Evening’ at Great Torrington School last week. The event was extremely well attended and we, alongside Harland and Wolff, spoke to various students who are keen to explore a career in the maritime or engineering industry. Sam Roberts, our community learning officer said, “It was a delightful evening and an opportunity to really share what we can offer young people at Freshspring. The students were surprised to discover the breadth of options available to them if they pursue a career in maritime, either through a local apprenticeship or through further study at a FE college, or at a specialist Maritime training facility, either in the Southwest or elsewhere in the country. It also prompted conversations about how we (Freshspring) are able to guide and support those students undertaking their Duke of Edinburgh award with volunteering opportunities on board to help fulfil the award’s requirements.”

If you would be interested in finding out more about the career opportunities within the maritime or engineering industry, our volunteering openings (which can be tailored to suit), or would like to pay us a visit, then please send us a message via our ‘Contact’ page.
